Preston Hall Government 2016-2017

Hall Government serves as the voice of advocacy for Preston. Residents are encouraged to participate in discussions and debates regarding our community. Funding is available for any resident to help fund programs and initiatives for Preston. Preston Government meetings are held each Sunday at 8:00pm in the Seminar Room.

 

Fun fact: the very first hall government at the University of South Carolina started in Preston back in the 1960s!

Paige Brown

Paige Brown
Paige Brown is a freshman Biomedical Engineering major from Florence, South Carolina. She serves as the 1st Floor-East Wing Liaison for Hall Government. Her favorite thing about Preston is getting to talk with other residents while enjoying Oreo cheesecake at PDining. Outside of Preston, she is involved in the Society of Woman Engineers, the Biomedical Engineering society, Timmy Global Health and the University Band. In her free time, she enjoys exploring campus with friends, playing her clarinet, and trying new food. She looks forward to keeping the lively!

My name is Joe Ciampa and I am a Wing Liaison for second floor West in Preston. I am a Freshman from Middleton, Massachusetts and currently studying to be a Real Estate major. As Wing Liaison it is my responsibility is to keep my hall updated on community issues and events, as well as to assist Preston government in any manner designated. I’m excited to help hall government plan and execute upcoming events.  I’m glad to be serving my family and am ready for an exciting year!

Jack Crayne is from Camden, SC and a Sophomore at Carolina. Jack Is a Biomedical Engineering major with the College of Engineering and Computing. Jack serves as Co-Wing Liaison with Luke Severence in Preston Hall Governent. He as also been involved with Y-IMPACT within Preston. Outside of Preston Jack is involved with multiple intramural sports and works as a Lifeguard in his spare time. Jack enjoys following college football but especially loves the Gamecocks. He also enjoys playing soccer and volleyball.

Katherine DeWeese
Katherine DeWeese is excited to be a First-Year Resident at Preston Residential College. She is a freshman International Business major with a minor in Portuguese and Political Science. Katherine is from Indianapolis, Indiana; 630 miles away and is excited to make the University of South Carolina her “home away from home.”
This year, Katherine is involved within Preston Hall Government as an RHA Senator. She is also the New Member Vice President of Fraternity Development for Pi Beta Phi SC Alpha chapter. This summer, Katherine was a full time nanny, an Assistant Coach for The Academy Volleyball Club, and a hostess at Thr3e Wise Men Brewing Company. She is extremely excited to continue her leadership at Preston Residential College and the University of South Carolina.

Danielle Dispoto is a sophomore here at the University of South Carolina studying Integrated Information Technology. She is from Ramsey, NJ, but enjoys being down south to escape the cold. Danielle is involved in many organizations here at USC. She is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, as well as the Preston Literary Society where she will be assisting in the planning of events and the creation of the annual literary magazine, Bellwether. Danielle is currently serving on Preston's Hall Government as the Vice President. She is very excited for what Hall Gov has planned for the year, and can't wait to see what they will accomplish!

Casey Hamlin is a freshman political science major from Old Forge, New York. Throughout his career, Casey has worked passionately in conjunction with not-for-profit organizations, municipalities, event coordinators and educational institutions to make a palpable impact on the communities that he has been a part of. Since arriving at USC, he has become involved with the Preston Ambassadors, Preston Hall Government, Turning Point USA, College Republicans, and serves as USC’s Campus Coordinator for the National Rifle Association.

Colin Hungerpiller is from Hartsville, SC and a Sophomore at USC. Colin is a pre-pharmacy major. In Preston, Colin serves as the 2016-2017 Preston Hall Government Moderator (President) and is a Preston Ambassador. Outside of Preston, Colin is involved with the Carolina Association of Pre-Pharmacy Students and serves in Student Government as a Student Body Senator. Colin is also involved with a leadership position with the Boy Scouts of America. Colin is a fourth generation student at USC and bleeds garnet and black. Colin enjoys going to sport events, hanging out with friends, and enjoying good food! Colin really enjoys the community at Preston. Colin believes that the Preston experience cannot be fully understood until it is fully experienced. Colin looks forward to the coming year for Hall Government and serving all of the new residents.

   
Hunter Johnson

Hunter Johnson
Hunter Johnson is from Hartsville, South Carolina. He is a Freshman at USC. Hunter is majoring in Mechanical Engineering. In Preston, Hunter is involved with the 2016-2017 Preston Hall Government as the 3rd floor east wing liaison. Outside of Preston, Hunter is involved in intramural sports which he loves playing. Hunter is a huge Carolina fan and is the first in his family to attend the University which has been a life-long goal of his. Hunter’s hobbies include going to any Gamecock sporting event, playing golf, fishing, and hanging out with his friends. Hunter enjoys the close community experienced in Preston and hopes that the remaining time of his first year as a Gamecock will be a memorable one.

   
Daniel Lee

Daniel Lee
Daniel Lee is a junior Biology major from Richmond, Virginia. He is a Capstone Fellow and plans to go to medical school after graduation to become a neurosurgeon. This is his first year living in Preston Residential College. Aside from academics, Daniel is very active on campus as the Treasurer of the Japanese Culture Association as well as a member in the Preston Garden Committee. Furthermore, Daniel has been conducting research at the USC School of Medicine for the past three years.

Mikayla McCord is freshman studying International Studies and Political Science. She is happy to be very involved with Preston Residential College this year. She is the 2nd floor East Wing Liaison and is the Co-Chair for Y-IMPACT's group at the Transitions Homeless Shelter. In her free time she loves listening to music and performing with the University Band. Her two passions in life are helping and leading others.

Emerson Odagis is Pottstown, PA and is a Freshman at USC. Emerson is a global supply chain operations management major. In Preston, Emerson is involved with the Preston Ambassadors and serves as the 2016-2017 Preston Hall Government Treasurer. Outside of Preston, Emerson serves in the Student Government as a Student Body Senator. Emerson enjoys playing sports, hanging out with friends, and traveling.

Jacob Ryan is from Annapolis, Maryland and is a Freshmen at USC. Jake is a Biomedical Engineering major. In Preston, Jake is involved with the Hall Government serving as the 2016-2017 Preston Hall Government Public Relations Officer. Outside of Preston, Jake is a member of the Biomedical Engineering Society. Jake enjoys going to sport events, hanging out with friends, and enjoys good food! Jake really enjoys the community at Preston and looks forward to rest of the school year. 

   
Luke Serverance

Luke Severance is from Florence, South Carolina and a Sophomore at the University of South Carolina. Luke is a Biological Science major. This is Luke’s second year living in Preston Residential College and is active in Y-Impact, Preston Ambassadors, and serves in Preston Hall Government as a Wing Liaison. Outside of Preston Residential College, Luke is involved in intramural sports where his team won the championship of outdoor soccer in the Spring of 2016. Luke enjoys living in the community of Preston where he hangs out with friends, eats with his friends at P-Dining, and taking classes with fellow Prestonites.

Jared Schenfeldt is a freshman Business management major from Lancaster, South Carolina. Recently, he has undertaken the position as 3rd West Hall Liaison to be more involved. That, along with the Preston Gardening Committee, Scuba club, and various volunteering opportunities. Jared holds Community as his most important principle, and will often be seen at most Preston events consequently. He is always ready to meet new people,  and will talk your ear off consistently.

   
James Teal

James Teal
James Teal is a Sophomore Political Science major on the Pre-Law track from Hartsville, South Carolina. James currently serves as Senator for Preston Government and serves on the Senate of the Residence Hall Association. James’s involvement goes a step further as he is currently serving his first term in the 108th Student Body Senate for Student Government. James is a Student Body Senator and Vice-Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. James enjoys playing tennis and watching football, never missing a home game. A second year Preston resident, James hopes to see continued progress made by student leadership within the building, while also helping ensure that Preston continues to provide an exceptional living and learning community.

   
Adrian Workman

Adrian Workman
Adrian Workman is a junior Broadcast Journalism major and Political Science minor at the University of South Carolina. He is a member of the University of South Carolina marching band 'The Mighty Sound of the Southeast,' where he plays the mellophone. He is also a member of SGTV and works behind the scenes with the Gamecock Pageant Club. In his spare time, you can catch him surfing through YouTube videos and watching countless marching band performances.
