Literary Society

The Literary Society hosts various events, including a book club in conjuction with the One Book, One Columbia project, as well as tour of the Special Collections at the Thomas Cooper Library. The Literary Society create our own literary journal, Bellwether.

Allie Anderson

Allie Anderson
Allie Anderson is a sophomore English for Secondary Education major, with a minor in Theatre. With the Literary Society, she is a part of the Bellwether artistic design team, serving as the Layout Coordinator for Preston's Literary Magazine. 

   
Josie Catanzarite

Josie Catanzarite
Josie Catanzarite is a second year sophomore returner to Preston. She is a sports management major that hopes to work in professional sports one day. Josie is involved in literary society as the content director for a second year. Outside of Preston, she is involved in Pi Beta Phi sorority, where she is serving as a pre- initiation committee member this year. Josie hopes to become a part of the philanthropy committee, as well. She is very excited to be a part of the literary society for another year and cannot wait to show Preston the amazing events and things the Literary Society has this year!

   
Danielle Dispoto

Danielle Dispoto
Danielle Dispoto is a sophomore here at The University of South Carolina studying Integrated Information Technology. While at the university, Danielle has become involved in Greek Life as a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, has served on Preston Hall Government as secretary and currently as Vice President, and is also a member of the Society of Women Engineers. She was involved in the Preston Literary Society last year also, and is very excited to see what the organization is able to accomplish! 

   
Natalie Hungate

Natalie Hungate
Natalie Joe Hungate is a junior International Studies and German double major from Charlotte, North Carolina.  Within Preston Residential College, Natalie is Secretary of Preston’s Literary Magazine Bellwether and also Secretary of the Preston Ambassadors.  Outside of Preston, she is a member of Pi Beta Phi Fraternity for Women, Delta Phi Alpha (National German Honor Society), Sigma Iota Rho (International Studies Honor Society), is involved with the Methodist Student Network (MSN) where she oversees social media, works for the USC Athletic Department, and plays intramural sports.  Natalie loves to travel and explore new cultures, meet new people, and learn languages.  While at USC, Natalie has studied abroad in Germany and Iceland, along with doing three mission trips to Ecuador, Canada, and Costa Rica.  Every day is a new adventure and she cannot wait to see what it has in store!

   
Philip Lazzaroni

Philip Lazzaroni (Editor-in-Chief)
Philip Lazzaroni is the Editor-in-Chief of the Preston Literary Society. A Sophomore Business Economics student from Baltimore, Maryland, he attributes a great deal of his college success to Preston Residential College. He has been actively engaged in many Preston organizations in the past, and is now very happy to have the opportunity to lead his own! Philip is also a Supplemental Instruction Leader for Math 111. He has recently become a part of USC's chapter of InterVarsity, a Christian community of faith sent by the grace of God.

   
Logan Lebron

Logan Lebron
Logan Lebron has worked in and with the Preston Literary Society since 2014. He served as Librarian during 2015 school year.  He enjoys nonfiction pieces concerning his areas of interest, from cartography to military sciences.  Lebron also enjoys science fiction pieces, particularly the novels of the Warhammer 40,000 series.

   
Madeline Magness

Madeline Magness
Madeline Magness is a freshman biological sciences major. She is from Idaho Falls, Idaho; but, her family recently moved to Johnson City, Tennessee. She has lived all over the US and was born in Texas. Idaho, however, is her favorite place she has lived. She is an alto in the PresTones a capella group and enjoys volunteering. A few of her interests include piano, watercolor painting, hiking, skiing, and paddle boarding. She has been on two mission trips to Ecuador and enjoys traveling as much as she does serving.

Emma Millar
Emma Millar is a sophomore English major from Silver Spring, Maryland. This is her second year in Preston and she is excited to be involved in the community, not only through the Literary Society, but also by writing for the Preston Newsletter. Previously published in Bellwether, Emma enjoys the creative arts and will be pursuing the creative writing track within the English major offered here at USC. After graduation, she hopes to publish a novel and then pursue a Masters in Education in order to teach elementary school. Outside of Preston, Emma is also a member of Omega Phi Alpha, a national service sorority, and Alpha Lambda Delta, an honors fraternity. She absolutely loves Carolina and all it has to offer and she cannot wait to see what this year has in store!

   
Brianna Minnich

Brianna Minnich
Brianna Minnich is a sophomore Finance major and Statistics minor from a small town in Southern Maryland. She works as a Peer Tutor through USC’s Student Success Center. Within Preston, she is a Preston Ambassador and a part of the surveying team for Preston Literary Society. Outside of Preston, she is involved in Shandon Baptist Church and the Women in Business Council. In her free time, she enjoys being outside, hanging out with friends, playing Mario Kart, and working out. Brianna wants to participate in the Disney College Program at some point in her college career in hopes of working for Disney full-time after graduation. 

   
Jessica Muscella

Jessica Muscella
Jessica Muscella is a sophomore Hospitality Management Major from Voorhees, New Jersey.  Before coming to college, Jessica was a trainee with the School of Pennsylvania Ballet.  During her time here at USC, she has become involved in Preston Residential College’s Literary Society and Green Team.  She is the librarian for the Literary Society and contributed photography work that was featured in the 2016 Edition of Bellwether. In addition, she is the co-chair of Green Team, Preston’s sustainability organization dedicated to educating and promoting environmentally friendly initiatives within the residence hall.  Jessica is a member of Pi Beta Phi Fraternity for Women. This summer she studied abroad in Reykjavik, Iceland and completed an internship with Marriott Vacation Club.

Kiernan O’Herlihy is a freshman Spanish major from Connecticut. She is the apprentice librarian in the literary society and she is so excited to be a part of this organization. She can’t wait to see what will come this year!

Lelia Rice is a part of the Layout Coordination team of the Preston Literary society. She is a freshman and is majoring in Anthropology with a focus on Archaeology.

   
Jessica Rhymer

Jessica Rhymer
Jessica Rhymer is the event manager for the Literary Society. She is a freshman nursing major from Chesnee, South Carolina. She enjoys going to new coffee shops, buying makeup, attending car shows, and acting cooler than she actually is. When she is not in the library studying for biology, Jessica can be found at the Soda City Farmer’s Market every Saturday. She is passionate about spreading positivity in and outside of the Preston community, she is always there if you ever need a pep-talk, a shoulder to lean on, or advice. 

   
Sarah Stevens

Sarah Stevens
Sarah Stevens is the art designer for the Preston Literary Society and the cover designer for the Bellwether. She is currently a senior graphic design major as well as a dancer and the designer for Carolina Ballroom Club. Sarah lives to make people smile and loves all things art, dance, and cats.

   
Nick Veronesi

Nick Veronesi
Nick Veronesi is a junior from Westfield, MA. He is a Marine Science and Geography (GIS) double major with minors in Applied Computing and Journalism. Besides being a part of the Preston LIT Society, he is the president of the Sigma Alpha Lambda National Honor Fraternity. He is also a heavily involved member of the Reformed University Fellowship, Capital City Sports for Student Gamecock Television, the Gamecock Athletics Department, and is a Career Ambassador at the Career Center. He is proud to be the producer of the LIT Society's Family Feud game. Don't forget to drop by and say hi to him when you get the chance. He does not bite.
