Preston Dining

One key component of Preston Residential College is our own unique all-you-care-to-eat dining facility, affectionaltely referred to as PDining. Located in on the 2nd floor of the Russell House west wing and open Monday through Thursday (5:15pm-8:00pm) for dinner, our residents have the chance to build community over food, and enjoy conversation with our Preston Residential College Associates. Students can pop in for a quick ice cream cone, or sit and chat for a while with someone new or one of our Associates. P-Dining is open to Preston residents, Associates, and their guests only from 5:15pm-7:00pm. Residents and up to 5 guests must swipe in at the same time.  PDining will be open for the entire campus from 7:00pm-8:00pm. ADA access is available through the 2nd floor elevator and down the south ramp.

All residents are required to purchase a Preston meal plan. Students who join a fraternity or sorority will not be exempt from our meal plan. The Preston meal plan will work just like everyone else's on campus any time of day or night. The only difference you'll ever notice is if you bring a friend from another residence hall to dinner at PDining. You'll use just one swipe, while your guest may need to use a swipe and have to pay the difference with Carolina Cash, Flex Bucks, etc. Please contact the Carolina Card office with questions.

Frequently asked questions

Why does Preston want residents to dine together?
Preston is all about community! What better way to continue building community than over food! Our residents are frequently joined by faculty and professional staff members from around campus and the greater Columbia community. Get a chance to interact with faculty in a different environment.

What's the difference between the Preston meal plan and other options?
The Preston meal plan will work just like everyone else's on campus any time of day or night, anywhere on campus. The only difference you'll ever notice is if you bring a friend from another residence hall to dinner at PDining. You'll use just one swipe, while your guest will use a swipe and have to pay the difference with Carolina Cash, Flex Bucks, etc. Meal plan information can be found on the Carolina Card website.

I just joined a fraternity/sorority, and they have a required meal plan, too. What are my options?
Social fraternities and sororities also understand and appreciate community. Unfortunately, we cannot release a student from the Preston meal plan based on participation in another organization on campus. There may be an opportunity to decrease your meal plan between semesters. Please contact the Carolina Card office with questions.
